The community in the Tha Manao sub-district of the Lop Buri province widely practice agriculture and livestock rearing, with swine farming being a prominent occupation. However, given the lack of proper waste water management, the locals were exposed to pollution as well as the unpleasant odours emanating from the farms.
Motivated by the support of several regional organisations, the community decided to set-up a biogas system that tackled the aforementioned problems, while simultaneously diminishing the amount they were spending on LPG for domestic as well as commercial use in fruit juice and other food processing units.
