RRCAP delivers training to Strengthen Cities' Resilience to Climate and Disaster Risks

The three-day virtual training workshop on “Strengthening Cities Resilience to Climate and Disaster Risks” was convened from 23-25 June 2021 gathering participants from South and Southeast Asia namely - Bangladesh, China, Indonesia, India, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. The online training workshop aimed to assist cities and local governments in building greater resilience to climate and disaster risks through integrating climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction into wider city development plans and strategies.


The training workshop was organised in close collaboration with the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and the Educational Partnerships for Innovation in Communities – Network (EPIC – N).


The workshop included theoretical session (focusing on Global Frameworks for Urban Resilience, Building Resilience in Cities and Local Level, Tools to Assess Cities Resilience, ECO-DRR in Cities and watershed including case studies, Engaging Academia in Strengthening Cities Resilience, and Resilient City Action Plan Development, Implementation, and Evaluation), interactive discussions, group exercises, report back session with peer and expert feedback, and practical reflection on existing approaches, models, case studies, and experiences in strengthening cities resilience to disasters.
