19 - 20 February, 2018, Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand
20 participants from six countries of Asia and the Pacific gathered at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) on 19 - 20 February 2018 to learn to use Climate Change Downscaler, a downscaling assessment system for climate change impact assessments, adaptation planning, and urban planning.
The training workshop focused on the specific functions of the S8 SICAT downscaler and used hands-on exercises with the aim to help non-specialists in climate modeling, including climate change impact assessors, land use planners and urban planning analysts, to acquire information regarding local climate change projections. Spatially-detailed climate prediction is essential for assessing impacts of climate change and designing corresponding adaptation strategies and measures to address impacts.
The training workshop was organized by the Regional Resource Center for Asia and the Pacific at AIT in collaboration with the Ministry of the Environment, Japan (MOEJ), University of Tsukuba, and the Center for Environmental Science in Saitama.
