Climate and Disaster Risk Reduction

Innovative approaches, mechanisms, and capacity-building efforts are needed to integrate climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction into national and local development plans. Strengthening these capacities is essential to increase public awareness, build political commitment, and unlock funding at the local level.

Despite growing recognition of the need for resilience, the challenges to actual implementation remain significant. Limited knowledge, insufficient institutional commitment, and the lack of integration in existing policies and planning frameworks hinder effective implementation. We support city governments in embedding climate adaptation and disaster risk reduction into their broader development strategies to strengthen resilience against climate- and disaster-related risks.
